🎈National Hot Air Balloon Day🎈

Happy National Hot Air Balloon Day!!! June 5th! I have a special finish today--this is my 5th National Day quilt out of 8 that I'm finishing this year!!!
Quilt Info:
Contributors: Tama Quilters of Fuchu-shi, Tokyo, Japan
Size: 28" X 25"
Batting: Quilters Dream Poly
Thread: Glide--Light Turquoise
Pantograph: Calm Clouds ⤵️ from My Creative Stitches
Interesting Info: Tama Quilters is a group of six quilters that lived in or near Tama-cho in Fuchu-shi, Tokyo in the 2000s, including myself. We continue to do "summer homework"--a block swap. This year I'm finishing up 8 sets of blocks I have collected over the years. This hot air balloon swap was from 2008.
These ⤴️ top three blocks are from: Yoshie who used some Kaffe Fassett prints in a 9-patch style, Akiko who made hers with a cute heart print, and myself who used a Quilt Minnesota print with the Minnesota state flower, Lady Slipper.
And the lower three blocks ⤴️ are made by: Keiko who used a fireworks print, Setsuko who did rainbow Seminole piecing, and Mihoko who used a patchwork print!!!
I love this border fabric and the quilting design, Calm Clouds!!! ⤴️
I used this fun hot air balloon fabric for the back!!! ⤴️ I even love the hanging sleeve fabric on this quilt!!!
Here's where my new hot air balloon hangs in my longarm studio!!! ⤴️ ⤵️
I love seeing it daily and thinking of my quilt friends overseas!!! 💗
Come back for my next national day quilt--National Ice Cream Day, on July 17th!!!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. Very nice! I always appreciate a quilt that's been created with blocks made by special friends. Such a nice keepsake. It's wonderful that you had the experience of living in Japan, and made such lasting friendships. Yes, you definitely will enjoy looking at the quilt each time you glance out your glass doors.
