🎉Stripalong 2022 🎉

Gudrun @ GE Designs hosts a stripalong every spring: she refreshes one of her older 2 1/2" strip patterns and spreads the steps out over 3 weeks. Anyone can sew along with free access to her teaching. This year the spring Stripalong ran from April 26th through May 10th!
Quilt Info:
Maker: Me!
Pattern: Strip Tease 2.0 from GE Designs
The original pattern is on the right, and the updated version is on the left. ⤵️
Size: 66" x 84"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton
Thread: Glide--Marlin
Pantograph: Bamboo Shoots ⤵️ from Intelligent Quilting
This quilting design is a very authentic version of bamboo! It's also very dense. After the first row I reconfigured the quilting to a taller row height. I'll go even taller next time!
Interesting Info: I made my version from Japanese prints I had in my 2 1/2" strip drawer. ⤵️ They were all leftover bits!
The solids are "tsumugi", a nubby textured traditional Japanese fabric. ⤵️
Close-ups of some of my Japanese prints: ⤵️
I had less red strips, which is why I have one row of red down the middle and two rows of each of the other colors, going from the center out.
I had enough of this Japanese print for the back! ⤵️ Plus I used the trimmed off long strips for the binding. I love having such long pieces to work with for binding!
Gudrun just announced her next one-day sew-along: Sunday, July 31st, starting at 10 AM CST!!!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  13. Wow! This quilt is a knockout, with those lovely and fun Japanese fabrics. And your bamboo quilting is perfect for it. I love working with tsumugi. And I agree with you that having really long pieces to work with (for your binding) is so nice. The backing/binding is fabulous. Congratulations on a beautiful finish.
