Here's a quilt of my own that I just finished!!! I started the blocks this year on July 31st, during the one day QAL (quilt along) hosted by Gudrun @ GE Designs!!! My friend, Lynn, came over and we did the virtual QAL together!!!
Quilt Info:
Maker: Me!
Pattern: Kimberly from Stripology Mixology 3 by Gudrun Erla
Fabrics: Celtic Dreams by Lewis & Irene
Size: 86" x 94"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton
Thread: Glide--Tar Heel
Quilting: Celtic Knot ⤵️ from Mountaintop Quilting Studio
I love the Celtic knots in this fabric line, as you can see in the light blue print above and the dark purple print below, which made quilting this quilt with Celtic knots the obvious choice!!!
Interesting Info: You can still do Gudrun's QAL by going through her videos, one by one. Everything you need to know, including 4 teaching videos, recipes and 2 variations on her pattern, is on her Kimberly QAL page!!!
I love the Highland Cattle that are pictured in this fabric line, too!!! ⤴️⤵️
I used an extra-wide backing that I bought on sale: ⤵️A few more close-ups of these prints, "Celtic Dreams":
With the weather turning a bit cooler, it's being put right to use!!! ⤵️
Check out the Kimberly pattern--it's layer cake-friendly, or cut 10" squares from your own collection, as I did. It's great for featuring your favorite prints!!!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

ReplyDeleteLove the colors in this and the quilting motif you choose. I hope to get back to mine next month. Have you tried any of Gudrun's recipes? I think at least one or two in this group looked interesting.

ReplyDeleteLovely quilt, but those Scottish Highland Cows on that fabric!!! Adorable! That's the Spirit Animal we choose for our grand-daughter, my daughter would buy a real one if she had room to house it. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to make the outer square a bit bigger so that you will not loose the points! Enjoy your finish - I think you picked a fun quilting design. xo

ReplyDeleteSo sorry, I forgot to change from Anonymous in the last comment.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved the simplicity of this design. But what makes it really stand out is the selection of fabrics and you have hit it spot on. These colour combinations work so well and are finished perfectly with your lovely quilting.
