4 Fun Quilts🪡

Here are 4 fun quilts, pieced by 3 quilters, that I quilted recently!!!
Quilt Info #1--Retro Santa Panel:
Maker: Susan
Size: 54" x 63"
Batting: Warm & Natural
Thread: Glide--Linen
Pantograph: Two Simple ⤵️ from Intelligent Quilting
Susan was drawn to this panel because of the fun retro Santa!!!
Susan's backing is a double-sided minkee type fabric from Joanns. Being double-sided, there was some red minkee fur coming through to the front with the white thread! Enough to give a longarm quilter a pause!!! Susan and I agreed that the red dots are not so noticeable and will probably disappear with washing.
BTW, I used white thread on the back, too, but as you can see above, the thread sinks right into the minkee.
Wow, do I ever love how Susan pieced together the borders of this quilt to look like plaid fabric!!!
Quilt Info #2--School Is Cool Panel:
Maker: Susan
Size: 40" x 61"
Batting: Warm & Natural
Thread: Glide--Tar Heel
Pantograph: Dilly Dally ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
I will admit, this was my first time to use this pantograph. About halfway through quilting I got to really looking at the stitching and thought, as a knitter it looks like these are going to be dropped stitches! Then I had a sinking feeling. I looked back at the original photo and noticed I was suppose to interlock the rows even more than I did!!! I gave Susan a deep discount for this one, and she said she wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't told her. The quilting still gives good coverage.
Interesting Info: For backing, Susan used a rainbow polar fleece--isn't it beautiful!!!
Quilt Info #3--Kimberly QAL:
Maker: Lynn
Size: 86" x 86"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Thyme
Pantograph: Triplet ⤵️ from Ma Tante Quilting
Love this panto!!!
Interesting Info: Gudrun @ GE Designs had a free one day quilt along for this pattern on July 31st! You can still follow along with the 4 recorded videos here. Lynn and I worked on our quilts together--too much fun!!! You can see my quilt at Celtic Dreams QAL.
Some close-ups of these adorable fabrics and great blenders!!! ⤴️ ⤵️
What a great backing fabric, from the same line, "Frond of You"!!! Lynn bought a whole bolt of it on clearance from Hancock's of Paducah for a bargain price!!! ⤵️
I love how Lynn arranged the darkest blocks around the outside, with yellow blocks in each corner! It frames the whole quilt so well!!! ⤵️
Quilt Info #4--Taylor Pattern:
Maker: Bonnie
Size: 60" x 75"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton Request
Thread: Glide--Cardinal
Pantograph: Dilly Dally ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
I redeemed this pantograph by properly placing it this time around--no more dropped stitches!!! It does fit this quilt so well, as it looks like knit stitches!!!
Interesting Info: Isn't this fabric adorable--"Love to Knit", featuring sheep knitting, balls of yarn, hearts, "I'd rather be knitting" slogan, yarn tangles, etc.!!!
My sister made this quilt especially for her daughter who started knitting baby hats during the pandemic and is soon approaching 1,000 baby hats! She really does have a passion for knitting!!!
Minkee on the back!!! The cuddliest option for a quilt! It's great it comes in a 90" width, besides the basic 60" width. ⤵️ I recommend batting with a Minkee back. I have Quilters Dream Request on hand just for that occasion--it's the thinnest weight of cotton batting, so as not to add extra bulk.
Fun quilts, quilters!!! Keep on quilting!!!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  3. Each quilt is wonderful in its own way! Love the Retro Santa panel and the fun border. That backing would have scared me, but it looks fabulous with that panto. The School Ic Cool panel is another great one. I would never have known how the panto was supposed to look - it looks perfect that way too! And, Kimberly is awesome with that Triplet design. I love the Bonnie's quilt for her prolific daughter and the panto is done perfectly on that one. Once you know how it looks, it is hard to unsee it. Great job, Nancy!

  4. The headline could read 4 Quilts, 3 Quilters, 2 Days and one amazing holiday season!!! :-D Sounding like the 12 days of Christmas song. Looks like your studio is an extension of Santa's Workshop. Wishing you all the joys of the season and a happy new year!

  6. What a great bunch of quilts--all so fantastic! I keep thinking to myself that I need to try minkee or flannel as the backing on a quilt or two but still have not gone that route. One of these days.....

  9. Until I looked at your sister's red quilt, I didn't understand why you were concerned with the quilting placement on the school quilt. I think it looks good either way!

  15. The four of them are lovely, and the use of minky for the backing make them looking so cozy! I wouldn't have noticed that the knit quilting pattern wasn't the way it should be, it looks beautiful on both version, and make the quilts pop in two different ways. I love the square pattern on Santa too, it suit so well its round shapes ;))
Thank you for sharing these cute quilts, and linking up!

  16. It's wonderful that you have a longarm and the capability of quilting such lovely panto designs. Each pattern suits the quilt and makes quick work of bringing a project to a finish. Such is not the case for those of us who domestic machine quilt! :-) Have a lovely leading-up-to-Christmas week.
