Lisa Bongean at Primitive Gatherings is doing a Monthly Mini QAL! It started in April and runs for a year. A new mini quilt pattern is released on the 23rd of every month for $5. When the next pattern is released, the price for the previous pattern goes back to the regular $12. Here are my first two!!!
Pattern: Scarlett Star from Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings
Size: 14" x 14"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Graphite
Pantograph: Crosshatch ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
This pattern recommends making the half-square triangles with triangle paper. I didn't want to wait for triangle paper to come in the mail, so I searched for triangle paper I could buy and immediately download. What I found was FREE triangle paper I could download. They come in 3 sizes: 1", 1 1/2" and 2" finished sizes. Here's a link, if you need to make some tiny half-square triangles:

Quilt Info #2:
Pattern: Mini Maze from Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings
Size: 16" x 16"
Batting: Quilters Dream White 100% Cotton
Thread: Glide--Linen
Pantograph: Strawberry Champagne ⤵️ from Sew Shabby Quilting
There are strawberries mixed in with this quilting, if you can find them!⤵️
Lisa made her pattern cover quilt in blue & yellow. I was going for a strawberry version in red & green, after having just finished my Strawberry Season quilt.
Love this backing!!! ⤵️ It's difficult to cut up this type of print for the front of a quilt.

I accidentally cut out twice as many strips as needed for this quilt, so I will probably make another just like it!
Honestly, I'm not going to do the 3rd of these monthly minis. It's a bit too large, 18" x 18", and a bit too traditional for me. You can check it out here, Blue Sky Monthly Mini QAL and let me know what you think. Here's a preview of more mini finishes to come on my blog! I recently quilted 14 of them at once and I'm working on the bindings. Most of these will be going to our mission board in Japan, JELA, for part of their yearly fundraiser in September.
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

Those are so pretty, Nancy! I love mini quilts - they're fun to make and display around the house. That's so neat that you found the free triangle paper - I'm going to have to remember that. The Generations site is full of helpful stuff!
ReplyDeleteYou do such pretty work, and then the teensy quilting is so neat! Lisa B definitely likes those small triangles! LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea, to do a mini a month! Love your first two finishes. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Two fun and fabulous quilts and I bet using the triangle paper made piecing a lot quicker. I tried this technique years ago , but I could not remember where I got the paper. Thank you so much for sharing the link. I loved searching for the strawberries in the 2nd quilt. Adorbs!!!! Happy quilting, Nancy. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOMG they are so stinking cute!!
ReplyDeleteThey are both adorable! I especially love your red and green version of Mini Maze - that backing is fabulous! As always, your beautiful quilting just makes it all pop.
ReplyDeleteThey are so lovely and I love the way you quilted them. They are amazing!

What a fun monthly challenge! I like your two minis and feel like you do about the third!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteSuper cute minis!! I LOVE the backing fabric on the red and green mini. (I found the strawberries!). Bernie. needleandfoot@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWonderful little quilts! I like how you put so many on an expanse of batting and backing. Speaking of backing, absolutely love the one on the strawberries mini!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, thanks so much for sharing these with us. You've been very productive and they look great! That quilts on a clothes line fabric is awesome.
ReplyDeleteYour Minis are Maximum Cuteness! Both quilting designs are just perfect! As for #3. Although I like Churn Dash blocks, those are itty bitty! I’ll pass!
ReplyDeleteYes, I spotted the strawberries right away. What a great quilting pattern, especially the turning point for the spirals. It's been a long time since I created HSTs using triangle paper. The blue and white mini is perfect for that, though. Always fun to see what you are up to.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the HST papers link -- very helpful! The minis are cute, too!
ReplyDeleteVery cute (and tempting) monthly minis! I still have my triangle paper PDFs that I purchased from Quilt-Pro software long ago. When you have to make ooh-gobs of small HSTs (which I did for a BOM when I bought them), continuous paper stitching of them is a god send!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like the strawberry mini! So bold. I need to do a bulk quilting of some small items, they multiply quickly around here!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the HST triangle paper link! I love those papers as the HSTs are so accurate but they're so expensive. Your minis are beautiful! I love your color combos!
ReplyDeleteOh, these are so much fun, Nancy. I love having the incentive to do something just for fun and you are having fun with these. I can see why you are passing on the next one. You can just make the other one that you already cut instead...perfect solution. Love the quilting pantos on both, too. You always choose fabulous ones!
ReplyDeleteI love a mini quilt and your are so cute!! The blue and white one is really dramatic.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the mini quilts and the movement in the large quilts. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down.
ReplyDeleteThose are great minis!! I really like that blue one - draws my eye each way!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for linking up to TGIFF!
ReplyDeleteThese two minis are very pretty, and the blue star is gorgeous. Cute Strawberry Champagne pattern! How fun to quilt 14 minis all at once on the same piece of batting! The advantage of a longarm ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are sew cute, Nancy, and I love that the quilting is mini as well! Great job! I really like that Strawberry Champagne motif! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings! Have a great week!
