Green is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for May. I'm using my scrap 2 1/2" strips to make baby-sized jelly roll "drag race" quilts! This month my scrap drawer held enough for three!!!

All three quilts have many of the same fabrics. The fun part is choosing different quilting designs for them! I went with leafy quilting designs for all of them, in keeping with the green theme. This one is called "New Growth". ⤴️⤵️
This grey solid backing fabric from IKEA is where the quilting really shows up! ⤵️Quilt Info #2:

I've given two of these quilts to family members with newborn baby boys. The other one, along with other jelly roll drag race quilts I've made so far this year, will be going to Bundles of Love, a local group that provides bundles of newborn baby items, mostly handmade, to families in need.
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
"Drag race" quilts - LOL! Love the scrappiness - you have a fabulous sense of placement. Your quilting is always so pretty and inspirational!
ReplyDeleteYour scrap drawer must have a nice size dent in it now! Way to whip those out!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your drag race quilts, and the quilting designs are perfect. The ladies in my quilt group are chomping at the bit for me to cut more jelly roll kits from our scraps. Two of the ladies in the group took it upon themselves to go through every box we had stashed around the room and sorted all of the fabric scraps by color families. First time those scraps have ever been so organized lol. We are looking forward to the next color call.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you did with drag racing quilts, Nancy! I love all the different pantograph choices, too. The one that really calls my name is the jungle party; it is a great one for boys as it doesn't look too girly as a lot of leafy ones do!
ReplyDeleteLOL. . .Drag Race Quilts! You certainly got these three quickly to the finish line. You have three winners here! I too liked the jungle party panto. I didn't see any greens in your projects that I shared in my stash. How can that happen so often???--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteThree beautiful quilts, I love all these greens in there! Cute dragonfly, butterflies, Snoopy, and Eiffel Tower of course ;) When I saw the first quilting pattern, I thought, “Oh, I love that one!” Then I saw the second pattern and thought, “Wow, that one's my favorite.” You can imagine what happened when I saw the third one ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing and linking up your lovely work!
These are wonderful baby quilts. So simple, yet effective with all the same color. I can see you work very fast...keep those babies coming and you'll be ready with a quilt in no time!!
ReplyDeleteI always love your Drag Race quilts, Nancy! May's quilt have so many pretty greens. And I Spy those little leaves with the dots again, too! I bet these quilts are very much loved by their recipients!
ReplyDeleteI've really admired all the drag race/jelly roll baby quilts you have made this year. This has inspired me to sort out a huge bag of off cuts and small pieces from previous quilts to sort into colour families and hopefully make a couple of these myself. Those are three lovely little green quilts to be used and enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteThese have turned out really well. The green is great in these quilts. Yes, many of the same fabrics used but each one is so different. Lovely to get some backing fabric from Ikea. And making each one with a different quilting design makes them special.
ReplyDeleteSuch bright and cheery quilts, Nancy. And a pattern I think I could do, :) And what a great cause too.
