Japanese πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Honey Bouquet πŸ’

Here's my latest personal finish, made from scraps of Japanese fabrics!!!πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Honey Bouquet from Villa Rosa Designs
Size: 60" x 80"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Graphite
Pantograph: Diamonds Are Forever ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
This quilting design, "Diamonds Are Forever", mimics a traditional Japanese sashiko design!
I used a Japanese indigo stripe for the binding.⤴️
Here are close-ups of the prints. About 2/3 of them were acquired in Japan.
I downsized my rectangles a bit, using the same proportions, in order to get more rectangles out of my scraps.
The backing is half of an IKEA duvet cover.⤵️ Clouds are often used in Japanese art and folktales.
I love this finish--so many great memories of the shops and locations these fabrics came from! It will be gifted to my friend who was also a missionary in Japan at the same time we were there.

  2. What a beautiful gift for your friend, it would be hard for me to give it up! I'm always struck by how pretty your "random" prints look together. Do you place them all on a design board before sewing them together? I rarely have confidence in my fabric pulls or scraps, but seeing yours makes me think I should "just do it" and stop overthinking it.

  4. Yes, Diamonds Are Forever really DOES look like sashiko! Absolutely perfect quilting design for the fabrics in the quilt -- as usual from you, Nancy. And of course you nailed the scale of the quilting as well. Your friend is going to love this.

  7. The Villa Rosa designs are great ways to use left over pieces. And all being Japanese fabrics makes them come together so well.
