Chain Gang Snowstorm

On Saturday, April 14, 2018, we got 15" of new snow here in Minnesota. There was a "No travel" alert out. I was traveling across this quilt:

This is Sandi Irish's quilt, of Irish Chain. Sandi is also my co-worker at Quilt Cove. She is getting ready for Spring Quilt Market, with her many patterns and her Quilted Jewel templates.

This pattern of Sandi's is called Chain Gang.

Sandi's piecing inspired me to quilt figure 8's across this quilt. I love the modern, clean look of this quilting design. Denyse Schmidt made figure 8 quilting popular by using it on many of her quilts.

If you're going to the market in Portland, May 18-20, 2018, look for this quilt and other Irish Chain quilts, as well as Sandi, in the Airlite Batting booth, and say "Hi!"

What were you doing during the snowstorm of April 14, 2018?
Grace & peace!!! ~Nancy

  2. 15 inches? Wow, I shouldn't have been complaining about the few inches we got here. Gorgeous and intricate pattern, and how exciting that it will be hanging in Quilt Market!

  7. Such a pretty quilt, and your figure 8's look so good with the piecing Nancy. We had a bit of snow and sleet but nowhere near 15"!! I'm beginning if spring is ever going to arrive. :) I really like the quilt pattern.

  8. What a neat quilt! I love that it's actually a chain. Looks like there is some 60 degree piecing in it, such a unique design. Your 8s are so even and lovely :)

  12. Chain Gang is a very interesting quilt! Your quilting is as always, wonderful! What was I doing during your snowstorm on 4/14/18..I was silently thanking God that we were only getting wet snow showers. It came down all day, but only melted as it landed. Good moisture. Oh, I was sewing a little too!

  13. Like I say Snow Time is Sew Time and it's the most wonderful time of the year. Now back in my days, figure 8 quilting was called Wishbone and it is one of my favorite patterns. It's is perfect for the Chain pattern. I love it and beautiful job as always.
