Mystery ⁇ Revealed❗️

We've been working through the clues for this mystery quilt from Quilt Cove over the past 9 months and we have finally reached the finish line! I went with a Japanese look for my version:
Quilt stats:

Pieced and quilted: by Nancy of Grace and Peace Quilting
Fabrics: purchased at Yuzawaya, Japan
Mystery quilt pattern: by Debbie Caffrey, via Quilt Cove, Eagan, MN
Size: 90" X 108"
Batting: Quilter's Dream Batting Wool
Backing: pieced Japanese yardage from Yuzawaya, Japan
Thread: Sky Blue Glide brand
Quilting: Ripples

My colors and fabrics were inspired by this border fabric of an old Japanese town and gardens in the winter:
I quilted it with "Ripples", a watery design that has a Japanese look to it:
Close-up of quilting:
I pieced the backing from yardage in my collection:
The pattern calls for 3 fabrics, but I went for the scrappy stash method--choose 3 contrasting colors picked from the border fabric, in this case: cream, gold and indigo blue. Then pull a big pile of scraps together for each color--the more variety, the better!
Thus ends the saga of the mystery quilt! A new one starts this month...
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  11. I have only done a couple mystery ones and I never liked not being able to see the whole thing in order to place the fabrics where I want...control freak perhaps! But I sure think you did a fantastic job and I love your finish!!

  13. Lovely quilt! I agree: the more fabrics the better - every time. You managed very well in finding so many fabrics in just three colours.
