💻 Quilt Path + 👶 Baby Quilts = 💪 Practice

I added a computer to my longarm a month ago! I'm still in the midst of learning. I've been practicing on some baby quilts for Jack's Basket, where babies with Down syndrome are celebrated:

Here are the quilts and the quilting designs I used:
This is the first quilt I practiced on.

Quilt Info:
Pattern: Simple Gifts by Modern Quilt Studio
Size: 30" X 36"
Batting: Quilters Dream Batting--Puff
Thread: Glide--Tar Heel
Quilting Design: Argyle ⤵️

I pieced together some 30's fabrics for the backings:

Next up, I made this teal version:

Quilt Info:
Pattern: Simple Gifts by Modern Quilt Studio
Size: 30" X 36"
Batting: Quilters Dream Batting--Puff
Thread: Glide--Mint
Quilting Design: Fort ⤵️
Interesting Info: "Fort" looks much better nested, but I didn't know how to program that in. I have since learned how and will nest "Fort" next time!

Third is this pink version:

Quilt Info:
Pattern: Simple Gifts by Modern Quilt Studio
Size: 30" X 36"
Batting: Quilters Dream Batting--80/20
Thread: Glide--Cotton Candy
Quilting: Sweet Orange Peel ⤵️

And my fourth practice quilt is this pink/purple baby quilt:

Quilt Info:
Quilt Pattern: Simple Gifts by Modern Quilt Studio
Size: 30" X 37"
Batting: Quilters Dream Batting--80/20
Thread: Glide--Tabriz Orchid
Quilting: Lotus ⤵️
Interesting Info: This quilting design took the most time and thread by far!

My computer is Quilt Path, version 4.0. There are teaching videos online, but they are for version 3.0, so often their computer screen looks different from mine. I'll be taking a class when the current #stayhome is finished, or I find an online class.

These quilts are part of the Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge 2020.

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. Those are so pretty, I wouldn't have known they were practise pieces unless you told me. And so nice they can be used for such a good cause.

  5. Awesome! It seems so fun to see those computerized systems quilt! I still dream about computerizing from time to time but the cost and the learning curve...not to mention crating and sending my old machine to the Midwest for the re-configuring which sounds a little more like a nightmare HA!...changes my desire. I'm content and still grateful for what I can do.
I'm so happy for you as you are such lovely work and will also make a lot of others happy too.

  6. Those quilts look great and will be much loved!
And now a little chuckle for you - in the aqua quilt, you mentioned that the quilt pattern was "nested" - well, I looked at the quilt, and I was sure that I saw chickens in the figured aqua fabric just above the yellow / aqua stripes. The power of suggestion?! ;-)
