"Courage, dear heart", said Aslan, the great lion to Lucy, in the book Voyage of the Dawn Treader, one of the books of The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis. They are all overtaken with fear, but with those three words, they realized there was nothing to be afraid of, and never had been.

Edge-To-Edge Quilting: African Safari by Peg Stone
Interesting Info: After reading and watching the movies from The Chronicles of Narnia, our family associates a lion with Aslan, the great lion, who represents Jesus in the six books from the series.
While traveling around the world last year with the World Race, DD2 and her team painted this mural on the wall of an English classroom in Kyrgyzstan:
Now she made a quilt to hang in her room at Joy House, to remind her to have courage. For quilting, she appropriately chose "African Safari":
She used this fun African animals print for the border, leftover from the backing of my Plaidish quilt:
She made this quilt using the "Scrappy Applique" technique, taught by Shannon Brinkley. The technique involves a lot of Heat N Bond Lite (thank you, Kathleen McMusing!), and is very simple and quick:
For backing, she pieced together these wild and crazy fabrics from the 200 yen bin at Yuzawaya in Tokyo. It's been 13 years since we returned from Japan, but, as Gudrun Erla says, "The great thing about fabric is that it does not have an expiration date!" #partyinthequiltback
Great job, Susanna!!! And a great reminder to have courage in whatever you face in your life.
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
