RSC🩷January

I have another RSC project I'm doing in 2025, related to using up my scrap jelly roll strips. It's a nine-patch and snowball quilt, inspired by Saija's quilt, here. Saija was inspired by Blue Elephant Stitches, here!!!
I'm using spare 2 1/2" squares from my scrap bin. I emptied my bin quite well with the RSC in 2023, by making these two quilts. ⤵️ My bin is about 1/4 full again.
I noticed Saija didn't use all the colors in the rainbow, but rather kept it light and bright, including light pink, fuchsia, lime green, light blue, orange, and purple. I'm taking my cue from Saija's quilt and sticking with light and bright.
When I don't have enough 2 1/2" squares to make the 9-patches, I'm cutting squares off the 2 1/2" strips before I make jelly roll race quilts every month.
I made 9 blocks this month. These are close-ups, 4 light pink and 5 fuchsia.
I'm often inspired by other bloggers. How about you?

Linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at So Scrappy on Saturday.

  1. This is a good way to use 2.5" squares. I just normally sew them into 4 patches and make scrappy patchwork. Happy stitching!

  2. I'm often inspired by other quilters as well! Sometimes it results in a quick trip into the sewing room to make a block to use as a reminder, especially when it's a RSC block idea.

  10. Did I read that right, you plan to make a jelly roll race quilt each month? Goodness, that will keep you busy. I certainly get inspiration from other RSC quilters, I've copied/borrowed lot of their ideas over the years. Everyone seems happy to share.

  12. Great use of jelly rolls, both for races, and for 2-1/2" squares! No jelly rolls here, but I sometimes cut scraps into 2-1/2" squares. I have a few that will someday go into a scrap quilt. Sure love the "hot" colors in your fuchsia and pink blocks. No doubt they'll go well with whatever color comes up next in your RSC project.

  13. Love your idea and your hot blocks for your RSC this year! Yes, other bloggers inspire me. I've made string quilts, participated in mystery sew alongs, gotten ideas and found resources for my stitching challenges. --TerryK@OnGoingProjects

  18. Isn’t it funny how those bins just start filling right back up? You are making good use of yours, and it’s fun to see the chain of inspiration and how everyone puts their own spin on it.

  20. So many pretty pinks! Are you going to make different colors each month for a mix? Or stick with one color for each quilt? Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
