My DH bought me a Jeep in 2019 as a way to get through the snow in the winter, as well as a fun drive! Now I have my own Jeep quilt to go with it!
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Gigi from GE Designs
Fabrics: "Adventure Awaits: J is for Jeep" from Riley Blake Designs
Size: 65" x 85"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton Deluxe
Thread: Glide--Linen
Pantograph: It's a Jeep Thing ⤵️ from Three Sisters Fabric
This quilting design is also called "Heartbeats and Jeeps"! It features the Jeep 7-slot grille as part of a heart, along with a heartbeat! The seven slots are for the 7 continents, the 7 wonders of the world, the 7 pillars of wisdom, the 7 seas, the 7 colors of the rainbow and the 7 directions a Jeep can go--up, down, right, left, forward, backward, and center! Take your pick!!!
The quilt pattern is Gigi, the 6th quilt in the Stripology Quickies Club. The fabric is "Adventure Awaits: J is For Jeep" from 2019. I bought a fat quarter bundle a few years back. I split it into 2 color ways. This is the pink and green color way, along with some blenders. I'm saving the navy and grey color way for a different quilt.
Close-up of some of the fabrics.⤵️ I wanted flannel for the backing. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found a bright pink Jeep flannel at our local fabric warehouse, S.R. Harris!!! It is also a Riley Blake Designs print but from 2017. Everything is half price at S.R. Harris ($7.50/yard, in this case), plus they had the full 6 yards I wanted! Happy find!!!
Gigi is constructed by randomly staggering the vertical rows. ⤵️ This can be tricky!
I'm super happy with this quilt. It will be living in my Jeep, going on adventures with us!!!
We took it to one of our county parks that is reintroducing bison.⤵️
This was our third time to visit this park and our first time to actually be able to see the bison! Usually they're off in a wooded area where they can't be seen. The herd is at 11 bison now.
Here is the entire Stripology Quickies Club line-up: 12 quick quilts in a year's time!⤵️
Here are my first six quilts. I made eight, as I made a table runner out of the extra blocks on the first quilt, and I made versions 1 and 2 of the second quilt!⤵️The next quilt coming up is Ursula, with the cutting video coming up in 2 weeks and the video class in 4 weeks. It looks like I'll have a bit of time for other quilting in the meantime!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo on the Jeep and your jeep quilt, Nancy! I have never seen jeep fabric before- how stinking cute and love the colors. Keeping a quilt in the vehicle is a fabulous idea . You are so lucky to live in an area where there are bison. Have a wonderful day.

ReplyDeleteOur daughter's first car was a Jeep. That was when I learned about Jeep enthusiasts. No doubt she would have loved your Jeep quilt. That is quite the impressive array of quilts you have amassed so far this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt! The fabrics are so sweet. Good find for you! It seems to be a win, win, win for you!
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to make a blue one for our 2009 Jeep Wrangler. I never thought about have a Jeep blanket!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun stuff, Nancy! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun, with the fabrics and design, and it's your Jeep quilt! Great backdrop for your photoshoot, btw.
ReplyDeleteI love your Jeep quilt. The fabrics are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI love your jeep quilt. The colors really liven up the scene. Your design is simple, yet so effective. Well done!! I actually thought of photographing a quilt on my car but right now, there's no way. We have this green pollen haze over everything in my area. Once a year this happens and allergies proliferate. I'm doing better today, but my eyes have been puffy and my throat scratchy. It rained last night and lightly today, so there is some relief. On the next sunny day I will try photographing with my car, but it's not nearly as cool as your jeep!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and beautiful quilt! So many Jeep stuff, it's so funny! I love the panto, and now you can travel safely as you know you have a cozy quilt to stay all day (or night) long watching wildlife!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this pretty quilt, and I'm looking forward for Ursula ;)
How fun to have a quilt dedicated to use in your Jeep! For sure, it will be put to good use during the winter, by either you or a passenger. Great pictures too! This bison herd makes me think of a similar place in Central Iowa - Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge - where bison also graze. So I'm curious, are you into the "duck, duck Jeep" thing? I find it very entertaining to see.
ReplyDeleteI love this! The details are all fantastic and make a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour Jeep quilt looks fabulous. We had a Jeep a while ago to tow our caravan, and I never even thought of making it a special quilt!
ReplyDeleteWhat perfect fabric and pattern for a quilt to take with you on your Jeep adventures! And even better that you were able to see the bison herd. I know this will be a much enjoyed quilt. Thanks for linking up with Favorite Finish!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Who knew there was a Jeep quilting design! That is so FUN!! I love SR Harris. Haven't been there for a few years, but it was fun to visit when I came to the Cities.
ReplyDeleteI have to find some of that Jeep fabric for myself, I am on my 4th Jeep and this will be my last. This time I got a Gladiator with a soft top and could not be happier. Your quilt is lovely, thank you again for linking up to Put your foot down.
