The April Rainbow Scrap Challenge is red. I'm including teal, turquoise and aqua! IYKYK! These are my jelly roll race baby quilts for April!!!
Size: 40" x 50"

I found this pre-cut fabric ⤵️ recently at IKEA. It's 60" wide, so the perfect width for backing a baby quilt, and 118" long. There's enough to back 2 1/2 baby quilts that are 40" x 50". It's $10 and also comes in cream and white. I stocked up a bit!
I'm making an effort to clear out my 2 1/2" strip drawer this year by making these jelly roll race baby quilts.

Check out this binding fabric.⤵️ I had it cut for a wide border for a quilt, then I didn't make the quilt. Have you ever done that?? It was a good width to cut 2 1/2" strips from: enough to bind these two teal/turquoise/aqua quilts, plus you'll see a lot of the same print in the red/teal quilts below!
Another fun, modern pantograph from Sew Shabby Quilting--she recently moved all her pantographs to a separate website at Sew Shabby Pantos, separating her longarm quilting business from her pantograph sales.
After sewing those 2 quilts together, I found a basket of more teal fabrics in my studio! I had pulled those for the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt two years ago, then I broke my wrist and that was the end of those plans. At this point, I also discovered that the real color for April is red. So I decided to combine my red strips with my teal/turquoise/aqua and I had enough for 2 more baby quilts!

The bindings for these two red/teal quilts were leftover strips from 108" backing fabrics! I love it when I can use such long strips for binding--less piecing!!!
These four, along with the other 9 jelly roll race quilts I've made so far this year, will be going to Bundles of Love, a local NPO that provides bundles of newborn baby items to families in need.
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
I just love those colors! Your quilts are all so beautiful, and the lucky families will feel wrapped in love. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo finished! How wonderful! I was just thinking I need to sew up my strips! Thanks for visiting my linky party! Nice to meet you! Renee
ReplyDeleteso cute and perfect for a baby
ReplyDeleteI don't know which pantograph I like better. Wow - such fun designs! The last one though is really unique and cute. Those are perfect choices for the jelly roll race quilts. The backing really allows the panto to be a star too.
ReplyDeleteI’ve only made one jelly roll race quilt and I didn’t like it. Yours, I love. Maybe I’ll have to try one again.
ReplyDeleteI love those quilts. Who would have thought that red and teal work so well together.
ReplyDeleteNow that is what I call working in a series. Not only are the strip quilts a great exercise in how to combine colors, but the first three pantographs look like a developing series.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Nancy, they look great!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! I love the combo teal-red, such a striking effect. And these modern pantos are gorgeous! Wonderful quilts, they will be loved by the families.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing them all, and linking up!
Your teal scraps by themselves make beautiful quilts, Nancy, but the teal and red combined are just amazing! And neat pantographs for the quilting, too. These quilts are going to be loved by the families that receive them!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I co-lead a quilting ministry and am always looking for ideas to use our scraps. What was the starting length of the strips before sewing to get this size?
ReplyDeleteI start out with a strip 29 yards long.
DeleteAll of them are wonderfully beautiful, Nancy! Such a good color combo, and eye-catching range of prints. As well, your quilting is perfection. I especially like "Burners" because, as you said, it's very modern-looking. Your workmanship is always perfect, and these quilts are knock-outs!
ReplyDeleteYou had a very productive week - love these and the color combos!!
ReplyDeleteRead until go together so well! I love love love your Devon Pantagraph! The Jelly Roll Race Pattern is certainly a quick way to clear out those 2 1/2 inch strips! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove these donation quilts! You can't wrong with teal & red! Perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing so well with these jelly roll baby donation quilts. I hope to borrow your idea for next years RSC.
ReplyDeleteThat 2 1/2 inch strip drawer must have been huge with all the amazing finishes that you have created! These four are terrific. Love the quilting designs and so smart to buy that fabric from Ikea!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteEvery time you post one of these jelly roll race quilts, I fall in love! I cannot choose a favorite! These are so fun! I have never made a jelly roll race quilt of any size. By the time you finish all of your colorful variations for the year, I might just have to put this on my to-do list! :)
ReplyDeleteIYKNK -- and I do, because I did the same thing. Our little secret.... I love your scrappy jellies and the terrific quilting designs.
ReplyDeleteThese are looking wonderful. I really like the teals as a quilt, but also the teal and red combo is quite striking.
ReplyDeleteI need to look back through your posts to check what length your make the strip before stitching it together for these smaller quilts. I think I am tempted to try one.
Great bargain with the fabric from Ikea. Wish I had one closer by.
Sweet quilts! the aqua and reds and perfect together!! and love the pantos, so fun.
ReplyDeleteYou are sure making me want to get out those strips that I have. I also should get out my red scraps for yo-yo's.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely charity! I'm loving these quilts. I don't know if I would have mixed red with turquoise, but man does it work. So pretty! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
