RSC ๐Ÿ’œ Jelly Roll Drag Race

Purple is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for July. I'm using my scrap 2 1/2" strips to make baby-sized jelly roll "drag race" quilts! This month my scrap drawer held enough for one!
Quilt Info:
Size: 40" x 50"
Batting: Quilters Dream Cotton
Thread: Glide--Lilac
Pantograph: Diamond Loops ⤵️ from My Creative Stitches
"Diamond Loops" is easier to see on the solid grey backing, a 60" wide fabric from IKEA.⤵️

Here's my jelly roll "drag race" quilt count for this year:
January ๐Ÿฉท: 2
February ๐Ÿ’™: 5
March ๐Ÿ’›: 2
April ๐Ÿฉต❤️: 4
May ๐Ÿ’š: 3
June ๐Ÿงก: 2
July ๐Ÿ’œ: 1

My scrap 2 1/2" strip drawer is thanking me!!! It's not empty, but it is down significantly.
Linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at So Scrappy on Saturday.

  1. Ooooo I LOVE the purples! I really love those jelly rolls quilts. And that panto is beautiful. Do you actually go to IKEA and shop, or do you order online?

    1. We have an IKEA 13 minutes from our home, so yes, I go in person every now and then. I put a limit of $19.99 max per item, so I don't get tempted by the more expensive duvet covers, which may go on sale at a later date anyway. This grey fabric is $9.99 for a 3 yard cut of 60" wide fabric, which is a great price for wider fabric.

  2. Well you know purple is my favorite color and yet I don't sew with it often but I sure love to wear it. You find some great deals at IKEA!

  7. Love how you presented your chart of drag racing quilts by month. Such a fun way to keep track of your efforts. I find purple fabrics more varied than colors. Your quilt is a perfect example of going from dusty lilac, paired with orange, a large patterned grape motif and so much more.

  8. Purple! Now that's a color that's nearly depleted in my stash. I have just some odd bits of scraps left. You sure used these strips to good effect! On the close views, not all of them strips are purple, per se, but they work nicely together, making nice contrast. You did well! Love that Diamond Loops design too. Great work!

  11. 60" fabric is perfect for so many lap quilts! And what a good idea for using scraps. I get so overwhelmed with all my scraps, as I can't seem to throw anything away. I think I will try to whittle down my scraps with these types of quilts. Thanks for the inspiration!
