2 Spring Impressions

I made quilts out of two free fat quarter bundles I received from the Quilt Minnesota shop hop!
My Quilt Info #1:
Pattern: Spring Impressions from Doug Leko
Fabrics: Country Poetry from P & B Textiles
Size: 48" x 64"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Pink
Pantograph: Honey Honey ⤵️ from Sew Shabby Pantos
"Honey Honey" quilting fits the mood of these fun, happy fabrics!
This bundle of 8 FQs was an incentive gift for visiting all 4 stores in the Southeast section of the Quilt Minnesota shop hop this year. I wasn't able to go myself, but my sister and family went and shared one of their bundles with me!
This pattern calls for 12 FQs, so I picked 4 more out of my collection and was good to go! It is a fast, fun quilt pattern with a random look. The blocks finish at 16".
Some Tula Pink striped binding always makes a great finish! ⤵️
This backing ⤵️ is part of an IKEA duvet cover, "Vitaminer Hjärta", on clearance for $15.99 at our IKEA in Minneapolis. Always check the fiber content on the IKEA duvet covers. This one is 100% cotton--the best! And at a great price, too!
Both of these quilts are going to Royal Kids Camp for foster children. We are making them now for camp next summer. Each child gets to take their quilt home with them and keep it. If they come back to camp the following year, they bring their quilt back with them.
My Quilt Info #2:
Pattern: Spring Impressions from Doug Leko
Fabrics: Forest Chatter by Maywood Studio
Size: 48" x 64"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Thyme
Pantograph: New Zealand Koru ⤵️ from My Creative Stitches
"New Zealand Koru" is the quilting here. Koru refers to the spiral shape of a fern unfurling, which seemed to be a good choice for these fabrics called "Forest Chatter", which include mushrooms, leaves, butterflies, flowers, stars and stones.
This was an 8 piece FQ pack that I received from the Southeast section of the Quilt Minnesota shop hop in 2024, and recently rediscovered! I thought I'd make a second "Spring Impressions" quilt out of it, while it was fresh in my mind.
Once more I added 4 additional FQs from my collection to round it up to 12 FQs--no problem!
I used another IKEA duvet cover for the backing, "Barndröm"--currently $19.99 at our local IKEA. The Twin size is enough fabric to back 4 small quilts, by piecing 2 of them. I think these drawings are so child-like and charming!!! ⤵️ This duvet cover is 80% cotton/20% viscose--I'm good with that fiber combo, too.
Another quilt for Royal Kids Camp!
These two were fun "bonus" quilts to make--bonus because most of the FQs were free gifts!
Thanks for stopping by!

  3. That was nice of your sister's family to share their haul with you! And you put it to good use by making and gifting your finish to the camp. How do you find out about places to donate your quilts to?

  6. I love everything about these, especially the colors in the first one. So cool that you were able to fill out the quilt with fat quarters in your stash. Can't even tell there were fabrics that didn't come with the bundles. Your quilting is outstanding, also.

  7. I love “”bonus” quilts! It’s always a fun challenge to see what can be made from free or gifted collections. You had two nice collections to work from, and I love the finished quilts! The striped binding is the icing on the cake.

  12. They look great! It looks like a block that is very beginner friendly. :)

Did your collection of quilts that you sent off get delivered to the individuals?

  17. You’ve sewn some wonderful quilts. The fabrics are magnificent—gorgeous colors—and the "Honey Honey" quilt pattern, in particular, looks fantastic with that colorful fabric.
The Tula Pink binding makes the whole thing perfect.
The cute backing on the second quilt, with the bears and moose, is enchanting... a great idea—I haven't been to IKEA in a long time. I really should :-)))
    Sending you cheerful greetings, Viola.
