🇯🇵 Shibori Phoenix🐦 SAL

Here's Lynn's Phoenix quilt all quilted up!!! Lynn and I did the Phoenix sew along together on November 6th! This is her second quilt made by following a pattern, although she's made many quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief by just winging it!
Quilt Info:
Maker: Lynn--Japan Missionary, Hospice Chaplain
Pattern: Phoenix by Gudrun @ GE Designs
Fabrics: Shibori Blues by Robert Kaufman Fabrics
Size: 83" X 108"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Cream
Pantograph: Sashiko ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
With Lynn's quilt being made from Japanese style fabrics, Sashiko, a type of Japanese decorative stitching, was an obvious choice for quilting!!! ⤴️⤵️
Interesting Info: Having lived in Japan, Lynn loves everything Japanese and blue & white!!!
Since Lynn's fabrics have a Japanese feel, my quilt holder and I took a short drive to our nearby Japanese Garden for photos!!! Here is Lynn's quilt in a tea house! ⤵️
For backing, Lynn picked up some extra-wide Stonehenge! ⤵️
I love these stone lanterns found in every Japanese garden!!! ⤵️
Red Lacquer bridges are also a popular item in Japanese gardens, and a handy way to drape a quilt!!! ⤴️⤵️
Beautiful Shibori quilt, Lynn!!! Thanks for sewing along--it was a blast!!!

  6. I love this! She is doing a great job as a kind of new quilter! I love the quilting pattern and the photo shoot. I listened to a lecture by David Owen Hastings and may do his workshop with our guild (via zoom) in April I think. He was interesting and the guild members that had travelled to Japan, enjoyed hearing him.

  11. Simple but beautiful, that quilt is just so Japanese! I love it, especially the pictures you took of it in the Japanese garden, which is my favorite type of garden. Great job on the quilting as usual, you really seem to love the Sachiko design, don't you?
