One of my favorite parts of quilting is cutting up fabric! I just got my Famore 60mm rotary cutter from Linda's and I love it! That, plus the Stripology Ruler, makes cutting fabric fast and fun!!! I went through some of my scraps recently and cut them up. I'm using my favorite Villa Rosa Designs pattern--Honey Bouquet, and have downsized it here to baby quilt size.
Here are 3 that have orange in them, for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month, orange!!!
Size:36" x 45"
Pattern: Honey Bouquet from Villa Rosa Designs
Batting: Quilters Dream--Supreme
Thread: Glide--Apricot Blush

This quilt is a combo of orange and blue scraps!
The backing fabric is from a twin-sized duvet cover from IKEA, called Kransmalva. I bought it on clearance for $17.99 and it's enough fabric to back 4 baby quilts, plus the pillowcase is big enough to back a table runner! ⤴️ For binding, I used the cut-offs from the backing--makes it simple!
Quilt Info #2:
Size: 36" x 45"
Pattern: Honey Bouquet from Villa Rosa Designs
Batting: Quilters Dream--80/20
Thread: Glide--Apricot Blush
This version is a combo of orange and pink scraps! I found an orange and pink fabric in my collection for the binding, also.
More of that IKEA duvet cover on the back! It's very dramatic!!!⤵️Love that hot air balloon print! And the Hello Kitty print from Japan!!!⤵️
Quilt Info #3:
Size: 36" x 45"
Pattern: Honey Bouquet from Villa Rosa Designs
Batting: Quilters Dream--100% Cotton
Thread: Glide--Apricot Blush
This version is a combo of orange and yellow scraps!
This grey solid backing is also from IKEA, sold as a 3.25 yard cut of fabric, 60" wide. The extra width is perfect to back a baby quilt--no piecing!!! I can get 2 1/2 backings for baby quilts out of each cut.A fun new pantograph!!! "Arbor Ridge"⤴️
These are my third, fourth and fifth Honey Bouquet baby quilts! Watch for more of these scrappy baby quilts as my time allows!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
Oh, such delicious prints! The VRD pattern is a great way to show them off. And your quilting continues to awe me.
ReplyDeleteOh I like your color combos! That pattern shows off scrappy really well. I spy some PB&J fabrics. I have my leftovers of that line separate from other scraps , it is such a favorite!
ReplyDeleteI only have 45mm cutters and have never tried a 60mm cutter. I saw that rotary cutter when I was browsing Linda's website the other day and saved it to my Wishlist. Linda's is only about 35 miles from me! I ordered my first Stripology ruler from there and just got it yesterday. I got the square and am looking forward to learning it.
You were having tons of fun with these three, with different quilting patterns. The orange IKEA backing is so stinking cute, and the grey really shows off the quilting, those flowers are just so sweet.
ReplyDeleteThat IKEA orange backing is the bomb! It was the perfect choice for the backing for the orange RSC!! Great quilting patterns. You are really getting a lot of baby quilts finished!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteThese are such fun quilts, Nancy! I love looking at all the prints you used. I think my favorite quilt is the blue and orange one, with the daisy print. That's a really neat quilting design, too. I just ordered batting through Amazon, but it appears to be coming from that Linda's. I'd never heard of them before, but maybe next time I'll just order directly from them!
ReplyDeleteI love orange and these are all wonderful! That orange backing is fantastic! :)
ReplyDeleteNancy, do you have a special method for deciding what prints go together in your Honey Bouquet quilts?
ReplyDeleteWow - those turned out great. The duvet cover is just a perfect backing - so bright and cheerful. Love that extended width stitching, especially in the first one.
ReplyDeleteThat duvet cover! So. Great. I love how you bust your scraps into these great quilts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting on all as always. Way to use those scraps for a great cause. You are really racking up the charity quilts this year.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a simple pattern but it creates such a strong impact. I love the back made from Ikea duvet cover! And, of course, your quilting adds extra interest and beauty.
ReplyDeleteI’m kinda partial to the orange and blue one also. Must be the Denver Bronco blood in my veins. :). They are all wonderful. What size do they finish?
ReplyDelete36" x 45". Thanks, Judy!!!
DeleteThat's a nice design, I like how the blocks are alternating each row. Duvet covers are excellent for quilt backings, such a lot of fabric in them, I have used them myself for donation quilts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts. I never thought about buying bedding on sale and using it for backing. Great idea!

Lots of sweet baby quilts and that backing is, as you said, dramatic. Love it! Also love that new pantograph. Very prettyt!
ReplyDeleteI love these quilts! The pattern is perfect for scrap busting and oh, that new rotary cutter is nice, too. Thanks to your tip I bought it and now, I am feeling like busting up my scraps just like you. Gonna check the tute on the longarm - don't think I have any extended designs, but I know it will happen. Great job on the orange stash.
ReplyDeleteI'm blown away by how much you accomplish each week. The variety of pantographs in your collection elevate simple quilts. I was particularly drawn to the Aztec motif. Love how it enhances the pieced bricks.
ReplyDeleteWhat great color combos - and oh man - that backing!! love the orange !!! I haven't ever heard of extended length pantos - but you used it well!
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderful. I think I like the orange/pink quilt with the dramatic backing best. Thank you for joining Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely orange quilts made for a good cause. That backing is so perfect for these--bright and cheery! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
