RSC 🧡 June

The June Rainbow Scrap Challenge is orange. I'm working on a nine-patch and snowball quilt for the RSC in 2025, inspired by Saija's quilt, here. Saija was inspired by Blue Elephant Stitches, here!!! I made nine orange 9-patch blocks for June:
Check out these close-ups of my 9-patches and let me know if you have any of the same prints:
Here's how I store my scrap 2 1/2" squares. ⤵️ I make my 9-patches at the beginning of the month. That way, if I need more squares than I have in my container, I can cut squares off my scrappy jelly roll strips.
I have enough orange 2 1/2" strips for two jelly roll drag race quilts, coming later this month!

  1. Love your box of precut squares. Looks a lot more usable than my squished mash of all scraps. xo

  2. A lovely collection for the orange blocks. I can see some very cute fussy cut blocks in there, too.
It is a smart idea to have pieces cut and ready to go.

  3. I'm jealous of your precut squares! I like your orange blocks. I recognized DecoStitch, which I love - I want every color!

  4. I dont have alot of orange varieties in my stash but I'm learning to love orange and yellows which i had always shy'd away from. Your 9patch and snowball quilt is going to be fabulous.

  5. I needed orange one time awhile back, for a quilt I was working on. Oh my gosh, I had a terrible time finding anything in my stash that could be called 'orange'. I suppose you'd say that's my least favorite color, lol. Your blocks are beautiful. And, no, I don't have any of the same fabrics! :)

  6. There were fewer familiar prints than I would have expected. Love the mix of squares in those 9-patch blocks. I have similar boxes to hold my squares. One has 2.5", and others have 5" and 3.5". There are 4 little cookie tins holding the 1.5". It's amazing how often I'm digging into these looking for just the right square.

  7. I didn't see any of your orange squares that I have in my own stash, but it's still fun to look at them up close. I Spy(ed) Saturn! Your blocks look great, Nancy!

  9. I recognized at least three oranges in your blocks! I don't think we've ever shared such a "high" number of common scraps! Your squares container looks beautiful. . .I too usually leave the fabric in strips and cut squares as needed. --TerryK@OnGoingProjects

  14. You must have a lot of orange strips since you are promising two orange jelly roll drag race quilts very soon.
