Interesting Info: I sewed 20 of these 6" blocks at our recent LQS employee retreat. I put 8 together for my mom's room--her space is 14" X 28". And I put 12 blocks together for our front door. I usually make our front door quilts 24" square, but I wanted to use ALL the blocks, not have 3 left over!

ReplyDeleteLove these! They look like they were quick and easy sews! Tell me more about displaying quilts on your front door ... Do you worry about the sun damaging them?
ReplyDeleteOur front door faces west, so we do have the afternoon sun. But I switch them out enough that there's not much fading. And if one does get noticeably faded, I'll just make a new one!

ReplyDeleteWhen we moved in, the front door already had a big nail in it, painted the color of the door, so it's not noticeable. The Hang It Dang It has a hole for hanging. I do a lark's head knot through the hole with a rubber band, and loop the rubber band over the nail. I hope you can picture that!
DeleteFun, fun! And the backs don't matter. It's taken me awhile to be able to put just anything on the back though, lol. Oh - I love your metal sign on your house - I have one just like it, too!

I was wondering about the long and thin look of your mom’s quilt. Makes sense. Both quilts are really cute. Yea for using fabric you already own. It’s all about the front on these hangings.
ReplyDeleteThese are both so cute Nancy! I had the idea to make a monthly mailbox quilt after making another one in February, but haven't continued, but this inspires me to make some more! I love hearts - actually the one I made was for Valentine's Day! Thanks for linking up.
