Four of us took the all-day class, "Master Your Stripology Rulers" course at GE Designs in Chaska, Minnesota on October 14th!!! It was taught by 2 Stripology certified teachers, with cameo appearances from Gudrun, designer and author of the Stripology rulers and books.
The class progressed very methodically from the beginning of her new book, Master Your Stripology Ruler, through to the end. We cut many different shapes and sewed samples along the way, and finished by working on one of the projects in the book, Back Home, involving the Stripology method of making flying geese. Pictured above are the four quilts we started in class, with details to follow, listed in the order I quilted them.

These are all so pretty, Nancy! I've never worked with stripology rulers. I'll have to take a look at that book!
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for this post and it doesn't disappoint. Seeing all the varieties of Back Home is so much fun. I love the Japanese prints you chose and plum blossoms is perfect for it. Bonnie's Christmas prints are just lovely and what a pretty table topper or wall hanging it will be and, of course, Winter Tempest is perfect. Sue's modern prints quilted with groovy petals is awesome. I really like the one fabric version that Lynn made. Can't wait to see the next series!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day that must've been, and your quilts are lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it was a fun class, and all of you made such pretty quilts! Lovely use of fabrics, and your quilting is always a beautiful complement to them!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these beauties, and linking up ;)
What a terrific pattern -- fun to see it in four combinations. Each quilting design adds so much.
ReplyDeleteI just thought you used that ruler to cut strips, but you are saying you cut the flying geese shapes with it?
ReplyDeleteOh wow - your flying geese are PERFECT!!! ( even my real geese don't fly that precise!!) Beautiful quilts!!
ReplyDeleteI know several quiltmakers who are big fans of the Stripology ruler. These Flying Geese quilts look precision-cut, and each is a nice reflection of the maker's individuality. So glad you could enjoy a day together like this!
ReplyDeleteI was initially drawn into your post by the colorful quilt blocks and the precise flying geese units...but then...your quilting on them really wows too! What GORGEOUS projects.
ReplyDeleteThat's on my to make list! But I was planning a baby quilt. Now I think I need to make a Christmas one!
ReplyDeleteAll four quilts turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all four quilts. It's fun to see the same pattern with different fabrics and quilting!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to attend the class and have a visit from the designer. Each one of those little quilts is beautiful. Chaska is a place near and dear to my heart - growing up. My parents' best friends moved to Chaska when all of us kids were young. We visited very often, and I usually spent a week there every summer playing with their daughter that was my age. We swam in the old "clay holes", rode our bikes all over town and sometimes all the way to nearby towns. I've lost touch with that friend unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteWell those are some darn cute quilts. Beautiful job by all! Have a lovely week, Nancy. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLovely finishes. . .I'll keep my eye out for the virtual class. That must have been super fun especially when you were able to share the day with friends!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteI love all 4 of your mini quilts! How lucky your friends are to have you to quilt them and show them off to all of us. Your post does make me want to find that workshop on the Stripology ruler to make flying geese units. I do have one and need to use it.
