Dog 🐶 Quilts

We had two birthdays in our family this past week! Quilt gifts were in order!!!

My Quilt Info #1:

Size: 48" x 60"

Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton Request

Thread: Glide--Putty

Pantograph: Dog Paws ⤵️ from Intelligent Quilting

These two quilts were made from the same fabrics, cut into 6 1/2" squares.

This first one is for my granddaughter! Dog paw quilting and minkee backing finish it off.

I also gave her a mini Hugz dog. Hugz are weighted plush animals that can be warmed up in the microwave or cooled down in the freezer. The mini Hugz weigh 2.2 pounds. They are meant to give "gentle pressure that grounds, calms, and helps you unwind."

I used 26 different dog prints!

There's a story behind these fabrics. I recently ran across this stash of dog prints in my cupboard when I was looking for I-Spy fabrics for charity quilts. I couldn't remember where they came from, perhaps a FQ lotto win? When I asked DD2, she reminded me that she had collected them from quilt shops when she was in middle and high school.

I asked her if I could use them in I-Spy charity quilts and she graciously said yes. I cut one up and didn't feel right putting it in a charity quilt! That's when I decided to make DD2 her own quilt out of her collection of dog FQs for her upcoming birthday. And there was enough to make a smaller quilt for her niece/my granddaughter, who has her birthday 4 days later, also!

This fat quarter is the star of this quilt!!! ⤵️ It's a street in Japan run by dogs! Much of the Japanese writing is a bit off, which makes it even more hilarious!

So many dog prints!!! 🐾 I added 6 more to her collection, to add variety, therefore you'll see a couple of more recent Paw Patrol prints.

Stonehenge for the backing, with the outer most navy sections used for the binding. ⤵️

I shipped it off to DD2 in North Carolina, along with a Manta Ray Hugz! Hers is a full-sized weighted plush at 3.8 pounds. And while I was at it, I got myself an Otter Hugz! If you're a Costco member, they currently have 5 different Hugz available online. I love heating it up before going to sleep!
