Gudrun recently did a one day virtual Stripology Retreat, with 2 sessions to choose from. I did the first session, on Saturday, October 18th!
The virtual retreat was held on zoom. Quilters from 48 US states and 8 countries around the world participated. There were 250+ quilters signed in at each of the two sessions, making a total of more than 500 quilters for both sessions combined, plus some quilters participated as a group from quilt shops.
My finished Winny quilt, quilt number 11 in the year long Stripology Quickies Club!!!
This is my 2nd Winny. I made my first during the Stripology Virtual Retreat in March, 2024, when Winny was exclusively designed for that retreat. Later that year, Gudrun included the pattern in her book, Stripology Quickies. She asked me if she could include a photo of my Winny from the retreat! Here it is pictured inside the book--mine is the large quilt in the photo! ⤵️ I used fabrics from the retreat but changed the background fabric.
I pieced my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt top together this month. Evidently I didn't plan the quilt math out because it came out quite large--66" x 90"! My throw size quilt goal is around 60" x 80".
I'm thinking of removing two horizontal rows. The blocks I take out can go toward making a baby quilt. I'd like to remove one vertical row but that is a lot more work and would make the quilt rows asymmetrical.
Speaking of baby quilts, I finished 3 this month! Some of these go to family and friends, most go to Bundles of Love, a local charity delivering bundles of newborn baby items to families in need here in Minnesota.
I've been working on piecing my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt top together, as well as a few scrappy baby quilts this month!
First off, my RSC quilt. Last month I worked on the white with black background squares. This month I filled in the 9-patches I've been making all year long. Once they were on the design wall I was not happy with the darker blocks. Here are the original blocks on the design wall:
I so enjoyed quilting swirls on Missy's two quilts that I decided to keep the swirl quilting going! These two quilts were made by my sister, Quilter Bonnie, and she lets me pick the pantos!
Missy belongs to a Ladies Club, and one of their events is a Christmas lunch with decorated rooms. This year's theme is "Visions of Sugarplums". Missy's friend is decorating a little child's room and she asked Missy to make 2 Christmas quilts for the youth beds in the room. These are the adorable quilts Missy made!!!
I made my aqua blocks back in April! So I spent this month working on my white/cream snowball blocks for my 2025 RSC quilt. Plus, I made 4 scrap quilts for Bundles of Love. I tried to lean into "aqua" baby quilts, but sometimes color sneaks in!
I debated if I should make all the snowball corners one solid black fabric. Then it occurred to me, this is the Rainbow SCRAP Challenge--make them scrappy! ⤵️
Quilter Bonnie surprised herself by hand embroidering all nine of these squares! Her original plan was to just do one or two, but she kept on going here and there and did all of them!!!
I have 9 small quilts to share with you today, eight made by me and one made by Quilter Bonnie!
I needed another photo for the 9 photo collage above, so I also included a photo of my labels I recently reordered from Dutch Label Shop. This time I ordered 300. Now, on to the quilts!
Purple is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for July. I'm using my scrap 2 1/2" strips to make baby-sized jelly roll "drag race" quilts! This month my scrap drawer held enough for one!
The July Rainbow Scrap Challenge is purple. I'm working on a 9-patch & snowball quilt for the RSC in 2025, inspired by Saija's quilt, here, who was inspired by Blue Elephant Stitches here!!! I made ten purple 9-patch blocks for July:
Here are close-ups of my 10 purple blocks. I have repeats from block to block, due to not having a lot of purple, but I didn't repeat within each block. Let me know if our "collections" cross!
Orange is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for June. I'm using my scrap 2 1/2" strips to make baby-sized jelly roll "drag race" quilts! This month my scrap drawer held enough for two!!!
One of my favorite parts of quilting is cutting up fabric! I just got my Famore 60mm rotary cutter from Linda's and I love it! That, plus the Stripology Ruler, makes cutting fabric fast and fun!!! I went through some of my scraps recently and cut them up. I'm using my favorite Villa Rosa Designs pattern--Honey Bouquet, and have downsized it here to baby quilt size.
Here are 3 that have orange in them, for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month, orange!!!
The June Rainbow Scrap Challenge is orange. I'm working on a nine-patch and snowball quilt for the RSC in 2025, inspired by Saija's quilt, here. Saija was inspired by Blue Elephant Stitches, here!!! I made nine orange 9-patch blocks for June:
Check out these close-ups of my 9-patches and let me know if you have any of the same prints:
Goody's Lil' Bundle Club is a new fabric subscription from GE Designs! Every other month one gets a coordinated set of 12 fabrics, sized 6" x 22". All 12 pieces together equals one yard, with great variety!
Green is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for May. I'm using my scrap 2 1/2" strips to make baby-sized jelly roll "drag race" quilts! This month my scrap drawer held enough for three!!!
One of my favorite parts of quilting is cutting fabric up! Especially nowadays, with large 60mm rotary cutters and the Stripology Ruler for making cutting fabric fast and fun!!! I went through some of my scraps recently and cut them up. I'm using my favorite Villa Rosa Designs pattern--Honey Bouquet, and have downsized it here to baby quilt size.
Missy has been busy with two new grandchildren! What a blessing!!! She still managed to find time to make three quilts, and they are great scrapbusters!!!
I recently split a Jeep fat quarter bundle from several years back into two color ways. Two weeks ago I shared my first Jeep quilt in the pink and green color way, link here. Today I have my second Jeep quilt to share, in the blue and grey color way!!!
The May Rainbow Scrap Challenge is green. I'm working on a nine-patch and snowball quilt for the RSC in 2025, inspired by Saija's quilt, here. Saija was inspired by Blue Elephant Stitches, here!!! I made 10 light/bright green 9-patch blocks for May:

These are the flowers we have blooming in our yard so far--the white flowers are Bloodroot, and the blue are Scilla. We have several patches around our yard.
I have 3 of my own quilt finishes to share with you today! This is what you see as you walk in our front door--two of the 3 quilts are in this view.
Red is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for April. I'm going for teal, turquoise and aqua! IYKYK!!!

"Elsa" is the 5th quilt in the Stripology Quickies Club QAL! It's made from the cut-offs of the Ana quilt, so they have a similar look. Ana--left and Elsa--right ⤵️ Elsa and Anna are sisters in the Disney movie Frozen.
